What you see on the HUD

When CodeBuddy asks whether a tool may run, the request appears on the HUD with Deny and Allow once. When a turn finishes, a New reply reminder appears. CodeBuddy's sessions are in the session list and the statistics, with their tokens, models and, where the model has a list price, an estimated cost marked ≈; a sub-agent's tokens count inside the session that started it.

Which account does it count against?

Agent HUD does not show one. It reads no plan or allowance for CodeBuddy, so there is no quota to show, and it does not estimate one from token counts.

Running turns and replies

Replies come from CodeBuddy's Stop hook; the reminder takes the turn's final message from the session's transcript. The HUD does not show a turn while it runs. Both hooks are added to CodeBuddy's settings by the release while client hooks are on, and removed when they are turned off. Questions and plan approvals stay in CodeBuddy. A request you leave goes back to CodeBuddy after 10 minutes.

What does Agent HUD read?

The project transcripts in ~/.codebuddy, or the folder CODEBUDDY_CONFIG_DIR names, with sub-agent transcripts joined to their session. Saved tool results are skipped. No credentials are read, and nothing is fetched over the network for CodeBuddy.

CodeBuddy and WorkBuddy

The two record their work the same way, but Agent HUD reads them as two agents, so their sessions and tokens never mix. WorkBuddy has its own page.

On iPhone and Apple Watch

On the same network as the release, iPhone and Apple Watch show CodeBuddy's tokens and sessions without a subscription. With Agent HUD Remote they show on any network, and you can answer CodeBuddy's requests there too.
